  • Overview

    Job Purpose:

     

    Identifies business intelligence, reporting, and data analysis needs. Works closely with clients to turn data into critical information and knowledge that can be used to make sound business decisions. Educates and trains clients to use the data as an analytical tool, displaying the information in new forms and content for the purpose of analysis and option exploration.

    Responsibilities

    Essential Duties:

    • Accountable for providing leadership and independent initiatives in facilitating information gathering, structured documentation and presentation of findings to all levels of management.
    • Accountable for the understanding of how data is turned into information and knowledge and how that knowledge supports and enables key business processes.
    • Provides development support for various BI outputs such as reporting and ad-hoc requests.
    • Participates in or supports work-stream planning process.
    • Works with internal and external customers and IT to gather and validate requirements.
    • Develops and writes business requirements for the design of solutions.
    • May determine and analyze commonly used queries and reports.
    • Researches business problems and assists in the creation of models that help analyze these problems.

    • Previous background/experience in Data, Data Analytics, Data Management
    • Experience working with internal customers on the development of report requirement documents
    • Demonstrated critical thinking skills
    • Advanced experience with MS Excel or similar tool
    • Experience using query functions in a relational database preferred
    • Experience with data visualization software (e.g., Tableau) preferred
    • Experience in collecting, interpreting, and analyzing data preferred
    • Analytical skills with the ability to apply creative solutions to complex problems
    • Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of prioritizing and focusing on responsibilities
    • Innovative, data driven mindset
    • Solid knowledge around database concepts, data models, schema design, etc.
    • Intermediate to expert level SQL skills.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Management or specialized training/certification or equivalent work experience.
    • 4+ years of experience in SQL development or similar technology with a focus in business intelligence development.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience in Agile/Scrum methodology preferred.
    • 2+ years’ of Business Analysis or related technical experience.
    • Professional experience working on BI, Reporting, and Data Analytics projects.
    • Experience around data analysis, data profiling, and data cleansing techniques.
    • Experience with analytics software and statistical packages.
    • Experience with non-relational data extracts from ElasticSearch, Mongo DB, Couchbase.
    • Experience with Big Data concepts.
    • Experience with Tableau or similar data presentation tool.
    • Experience in SQL performance monitoring and optimization preferred
    • Data warehouse experience.
    • Experience with cloud based Business Intelligence reporting.

    Physical Requirements:

    Standing, sitting, walking, speaking, listening, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping and manipulating tools, typing, using peripheral computer tools.  May be required to lift up to 25 pounds.
