Responsible for the oversight of monthly general ledger accounting in accordance with GAAP, including the recording, analysis, and reporting of revenue, fixed assets and capitalized software, inventory, and operating expenses.  Responsible for the overall management of all bi-weekly payroll and payroll-related activity for both Securus & subsidiary companies, including expense report processing.


  • Provide leadership, management and oversight for 5 direct reports & 4 indirect reports within the Accounting Department, including the payroll team
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of the Company’s financial statements through detailed review and analysis of monthly journal entries, supporting documentation and monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Review and ensure the accuracy of the underlying components of the monthly financial statements for the Company via trend analysis and variance reporting; Direct the analysis of revenue, fixed assets, capitalized software, inventory & SG&A expenses each month part of the general ledger close process
  • Review and approve capital/expense coding for all internal AFCEs
  • Ensure timely and accurate payroll processing, general ledger recording, and payroll reporting in compliance with payroll federal/state regulations, tax laws, and company policy
  • Develop and maintain procedures, policies, and internal controls within the Accounting department, including detailed working knowledge of SOX requirements
  • Coordinate with external auditors for interim and annual audit, including providing necessary supporting schedules, documentation, and analysis
  • Provide accounting guidance as required on new revenue products and implementation of new GAAP guidance. Ensure revenue and inventory system processing can support new product roll-outs
  • Provide guidance for both the inventory obsolescence and capitalized software quarterly impairment reviews, ensuring proper determination and accounting for obsolete products
  • Participate in Controller Department projects and Company initiatives; lead process analysis and improvement efforts related to department processes
  • Active participation in Company initiatives that affect revenues, inventory and capital
  • Provide mentoring/career development of direct reports
  • Provide analytical and problem solving support to Controller and Senior Management
  • Assist with special projects as needed

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • Certified Public Accountant in good standing
  • 7 years of experience in general ledger accounting, including decision-making experience related to matters of GAAP interpretation and process controls
  • 3 years of supervisory experience as a senior-level manager
  • SOX experience



Preferred Qualifications:


  • 3-4 years public accounting audit experience with nationally recognized firm
  • Master’s degree in Accounting or other business-related degree with an emphasis in Accounting
  • Telecommunications/technology industry accounting experience
  • Great Plains experience
