Overview

Linux Administrator responsibilities:

• Responsible for maintaining existing corporate IT resources on various platforms
• Ensure and maintain system availability
• Implement changes utilizing a defined change management process
• Experience working with enterprise platforms such as Red Hat and CentOS Linux operating systems
• Setup and configure enterprise class server hardware from box to rack
• Design and coordinate the installation of systems in a business critical environment
• Maintain and troubleshoot high availability systems in multiple Data Center locations
• Develop and write systems and applications documentation
• Support hardware decisions for upgrade requirements based on emergingsoftware requirements in the best interest of the business
• Determine system problems and coordinate hardware and/or software solutions
• Implement security procedures and tools to ensure security measures are in place
• This job may require evening and weekend work in response to needs of the system being supported

Responsibilities

• Sets priority, goals, and tasks with manager
• Works completely independently with no guidance on priorities, goals, and tasks as well as the subject-matter expert (SME)
• Provides assistance to the Linux I and Linux II team members
• Works with other groups to coordinate, resolve, and/or implement solutions to new or existing problems

Qualifications

Qualifications
• Minimum five years experience working as a Systems Administrator in an enterprise environment
• Minimum five years experience working as an Linux Systems Administrator in an enterprise environment
• Minimum two years experience as a level 2 or above position in an enterprise environment
• Performed in a senior or lead technical role
• Passionate about learning new technology
• Must have High school diploma or GED
Required
• RHCE
• Advanced Shelling Scripting (BASH) skills are a must
• Intermediate MySQL Skills
• Must be able to work a rotating schedule including weekends and evenings
• Very strong communications skills and analytical aptitude with the ability to express technical concepts effectively, both verbal and in written form
• Strong hardware/software troubleshooting and network diagnostic skills are essential
• Ability to work independently
• Punctuality and dependability is required
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
• Must be able to be coached and take on challenging projects
Preferred
Technical Skills
• Experience working with Linux, SAN, VMware, and Dell Servers
• Experience working with automation tools, including SaltStack
• Experience working with an installation environment, including Cobbler
• Experience with PowerDNS, MySQL-backend DNS server(s)
• Experience working in mid to large size enterprise environments

Professional Skills
• Proven project management experience
• Proven risk management experience
• Proven developing project scope and objectives
• Must be able to create and manage a project plan
• able to assign team task and manage deliverables
• Must be able to perform in a leadership role
