STOP LLC, located based in Houston, Texas, is a growing provider of equipment to the corrections industry. With world leading equipment and a challenging R & D program we are looking for an energetic individual to join our team. You will be a self starter who can take concepts through to finished products including hardware, firmware, regulatory and software design and development. This role would suit somebody who has strong background in writing code but with well proven skills in other parts of the hardware and software design process who now wants to advance into a senior role. A significant part of this role will include the analysis of data and completion of documentation so the individuals writing skills should be both accurate and legible.

Responsibilities

STOP LLC is seeking an experienced embedded systems engineer to design, develop, test and implement hardware, firmware, and software for its range of products.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in hardware and firmware development.
  • Experience in the entire engineering design process, from customer requirements through concept, design, verification, and volume manufacturing.
  • A self starter who is highly motivated.
  • Extensive experience with embedded microcontrollers (experience with the Microchip PIC OR ST micro range desirable).
  • Strong hardware debug/test skills.
  • Excellent communication skills both technical and non-technical.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a small development team, in a fast paced, timeline driven environment.
  • Competent in multiple programming languages (C, C++, assembly, Visual Basic).
  • Proficient in schematic capture and PCB layout.
  • Proven experience in either GPS chipsets, RF chipsets (915Mhz), GSM wireless communication modules, I/O, Low power management or any combination 
  • Experience in regulatory testing & documentation including emissions, SAR and cellular wireless with FCC and other agencies

 

Education
B.S. in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience required

On time delivery that meet product requirements. (Including features, costs, power etc.)
Product Design and Development
Product Quality (ISO 90001)
Project Management, Planning, and Scheduling

Some travel required, maybe 5 days a year
